Harbourfront’s 30th
Milestone season will honour theatre’s history

Harbourfront Theatre will mark its 30th anniversary in 2026, celebrating three decades as a cornerstone of live performance and community programming on Prince Edward Island. Since opening in 1996, the theatre has welcomed hundreds of artists and audiences from across Canada and beyond, becoming a gathering place for music, comedy, theatre, dance, and shared cultural experiences.
Plans are underway for a milestone anniversary season that will honour the theatre’s history while looking ahead to the future. While full programming details have yet to be announced, early confirmations point to a year filled with returning favourites, special moments, and performances that reflect Harbourfront Theatre’s diverse legacy.
Among the first Harbour Highlights selections announced are Canadian artists Jimmy Rankin and Rum Ragged, alongside internationally recognized dance company Ballet Jörgen.
“Thirty years gives you a deep sense of perspective,” says Mary Dennis, Executive Director of Harbourfront Theatre. “Audiences will see many familiar faces returning to our stage in 2026, artists who have been part of Harbourfront Theatre’s story over the last three decades, alongside exciting new work. It really speaks to our belief in ‘Our Theatre, Your Theatre,’ and the role this space plays in the community.”
In addition to curated programming, the 2026 season will feature a strong lineup of rental presentations from long-standing partners, including Rocklands Entertainment’s Megastars of Country, Shantero Productions’ The Comic Strippers, and the full slate of Craig Fair Productions’ 2026 season.
The anniversary year will also mark the inaugural season of Stages for Students programming, launching in January, February, and March. Confirmed productions include Jamie Adkins’ Circus Incognitus, Boom X, Tunes and Tall Tales, and Maritime Marionettes, bringing live performance experiences to student audiences and reinforcing Harbourfront’s commitment to education and youth engagement.
“Harbourfront Theatre has always been about more than what happens on stage,” Dennis adds. “It is about belonging, shared experiences, and creating memories together. As we head into our 30th year, we are proud of the relationships we have built with artists, partners, and audiences, and excited to welcome everyone back for what promises to be a very special season.”
Additional announcements and programming details will be released in the coming months.
