Improv, theatre, and dance
Workshops and classes at Confederation Centre of the Arts

Confederation Centre of the Arts is offering improv, theatre and dance workshops and classes this winter.
Led by storyteller and improv veteran Cameron MacDonald, the Centre is offering two new improv programs at Studio 1. The Adult Improv workshop is a six-week class for seniors running from January 7–March 4. Participants will learn improvisation through accessible games and storytelling exercises designed to support creativity, confidence, and connection, with no experience required. Teen Improv is a six-week class running on Fridays at 4:30 pm from January 16–February 20. The program focuses on comedy skills, collaboration, and imagination in a supportive setting for teens aged 13–18 who want an after-school activity that helps them meet people and try something new.
The Centre is also offering an Adult Musical Theatre class for participants aged 18+, open to both beginners and experienced performers. The course covers basic vocal and performance techniques, group singing, duet work, optional solo performance, and musical theatre scenes, with each participant selecting a song to develop into a supported in-class performance.
The Centre has new dance training options in Charlottetown, including Adult Heels and Hip Hop, a six-week class running from January 22–March 12 on Thursdays at 7:45 pm. The course covers hip hop basics and beginner heels technique, focusing on posture, weight placement, walking, and foundational movements such as body rolls, hip isolations, and turns.
Additional programs include Inclusive Dance, running from January 24–February 28 on Saturdays at 4 pm, designed to make dance accessible for students of all abilities and inspired by Boston Ballet’s Adaptive Dance Program. A Highland Dance Workshop takes place on January 25 at 3 pm and focuses on the Highland Fling. An Open Ballet Course runs from January 10–March 7 on Saturdays, featuring a traditional barre and centre class emphasizing alignment, musicality, balance, and strength.
