For more than three decades, PEI fiddler Richard Wood has performed Celtic music on stages across Canada and internationally. This August, the five-time ECMA winner returns to where so much of his journey began, presenting a limited, retrospective performance, Richard Wood: Fire Dance – Through The Years, at Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside. The special event, taking place on August 7 at 7:30 pm, is a cornerstone of Harbourfront’s 30th-anniversary season.

Fire Dance – Through The Years is a multimedia memoir that combines live performance with archival footage spanning Wood’s career. The concert features many of the jigs, reels, and slow airs he has performed throughout his career, interwoven with personal, behind-the-scenes stories about his experiences as a musician. 

Wood began winning step-dancing and fiddling championships as a child and has since shared tour buses Shania Twain, The Chieftains, and The Rankin Family. He has performed for British royalty, including Princess Diana and King Charles III, as well as for Canadian Armed Forces personnel in the North Pole, Bosnia, and Afghanistan. Wood was named by Maclean’s magazine as one of the “Top Canadians to Watch in the 21st Century.”
