Dunk River Murders
Katie Mac

Katie Mac, the PEI Book Award-winning author of Ken’s Corner, will launch her latest book, Dunk River Murders, on July 11. Same place, new dirtbags.
Burnt out from her political job, Maggie turns to fly fishing, until dead bodies keep inconveniently popping up in her river. Robbie, a demoralized cop on the case, finds it suspicious that everyone is quick to write off these mysterious deaths as hiking accidents. It’s not the wilderness; it’s the Dunk River.
After finally convincing Maggie to go on a date, Robbie has a proposal—if she helps him switch careers to become a lazy politician with a pension, he’ll help her get a private investigator license. Then she can solve the case of the floating dead and shore up her dwindling finances.
When they find a traumatized young woman alive but lost in the woods, Maggie suspects her history holds the secret to the murders. Finding the truth involves untangling a web of mob deals, and turning to her dirtbag old boss, Jesse Root, for help.
Katie Mac is a PEI writer of noir, thrillers, and westerns with a little bit of love and comedy. She wrote and produced the short film Currie. and received an Island Literary Award for her short story, “The Key to Wednesdays.” When not writing, she is pursuing all things fly fishing.
Readers and anglers are invited to the book launch on July 11 at 3:30 pm at Tivoli Cinema, 155 Kent Street in Charlottetown. The event will feature a special two-dollar screening of the fly-fishing film A River Runs Through It.
