Fanatics

Peake Street Collective exhibition at the Hilda Woolnough Gallery

This Town is Small announces another Peake Street Collective group exhibition titled Fanatics. It is on view in the Hilda Woolnough Gallery at The Arts Guild in Charlottetown from April 15 to May 23. An opening reception will be held on April 15 from 5–7 pm.

Artists are passionate people and their work is informed by the ideas, objects, and experiences they value. Audiences may wonder about the deep dives their favourite Island artists take on snow days when the power stays on, or feel curious about the collections they maintain, their hobbies, or the bands they can’t seem to get enough of. Fanatics offers a glimpse into these personal interests and obsessions.

Members of Peake Street Collective have created new works that explore their private passions: the things they love, their obsessions, their fascinations and secret devotions. This exhibition is explores the quirky obsessions that make them who they are, whether extraordinary or mundane.

Peake Street Collective is a mentorship wing of This Town is Small that provides low-barrier exhibition opportunities and mentorship for artists. Through one-on-one mentorship and annual thematic exhibitions, the program supports artists at all stages of their practice, welcoming participants on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of experience.

Fanatics is on view during gallery hours, Wednesday to Saturday, from 12–5 pm.
