The Lovely Nelly Band
Lovely Nelly Band will perform at Kings Playhouse in Georgetown on July 24 at 7:30 pm.
Lovely Nelly is Mark Douglas (small pipes, whistles), Colin Jeffrey (fiddle, vocals), and Claudie Mackula (vocals, guitar). The trio focuses on Scottish and Cape Breton tunes, with music from other Celtic regions adding to the band’s diversity. A choice selection of traditional songs showcases Claudie’s lead vocals and complements the lively tune sets.
Colin Jeffrey helped create the folk trio Papilio in Halifax before returning to the Celtic music scene on PEI. Mark Douglas has performed regularly at the College of Piping, with the Belfast Pipe and Drum Band, and at ceilidhs across the Island. Claudie Mackula created the Irish band Cosan with her sisters and performed across the Maritimes. She is also a composer and has written songs and Celtic pieces performed in Europe and across North America. She currently composes music for new video games being developed in Europe and the United States. Together as Lovely Nelly, they feature an unusual blend of Scottish small pipes and fiddle, backed by inventive, rhythmic guitar.
Doors open at 6:45 pm. Advance reservations are recommended. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-346-5666 or by visiting kingsplayhouse.com.
