From The Heart: A Tribute to Loretta Lynn
PEI’s very own Jolee will bring to life the songs and stories of country legend Loretta Lynn, the coal miner’s daughter, at Harbourfront Theatre on July 12 at 7:30 pm. From her humble beginnings in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, to The Grand Ole’ Opry, Nashville, to her final days in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, audience members will get to know Loretta, beginning with her epic song “Coal Miner’s Daughter” to her poignant composition “Lay Me Down”.
Jolee is a singer/songwriter/actor, from Kings County, Prince Edward Island, who started singing at an early age, and has two CDs, Shore Rhapsody and Going Home, and numerous compilation CDs under her belt. For her efforts, she received two Music PEI nominations for Female Vocalist and Country Recording and her second CD Going Home received a nomination for Traditional Roots Recording. Jolee sings country/Celtic/folk songs, and her own original compositions. She has toured with Canada’s Queen of Country Music, Carroll Baker, and is known for portraying country legends like Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Crystal Gayle and June Carter Cash, and is most known for her role as The Coal Miner’s Daughter – Loretta Lynn.
