The DiverseCity Festival is returning for its 20th year, bringing celebrations to seven communities across Prince Edward Island this summer. The festival will kick off in Charlottetown on June 28 and continue throughout the season with events highlighting the Island’s cultural diversity through music, food, art, and community connection.

Founded in 2007, the DiverseCity Festival is created to celebrate multiculturalism in Canada, strengthen connections between newcomers and long-time Islanders, and support inclusion, anti-racism, and community belonging. Since expanding in 2014, the festival has grown into one of PEI’s most anticipated summer cultural events.

“We are so excited to be celebrating our 20th festival this year. DiverseCity is an incredible showcase of the vast culture of our tiny Island,” says Dean Constable, Executive Director, Immigrant and Refugee Services Association.

This year’s festival locations and dates include Confederation Landing Park in Charlottetown on June 28 (12–4 pm); Main Street in Alberton on July 5 (12–3 pm); West Point Harbourside Centre Grounds, 159 Cedar Dunes Park Road, West Point, on July 19 (1–4 pm); Lefurgey Cultural Centre in Summerside on July 26 (11 am–3 pm); Waterfront Park in Three Rivers (Montague) on August 1 (12–4 pm); Kensington Railway Station and Confederation Trail on August 16 (11 am–3 pm); and Centennial Park, Pond Street, Souris, on August 30 (1–4 pm).

Each event will feature multicultural food vendors, artisan and craft booths, live performances, and activities for children, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.

“Celebrating 20 years is a very meaningful milestone for us, and I am especially happy to see more cultural organizations joining DiverseCity this year. To me, it shows that DiverseCity has become a place where people feel welcomed, seen, and a true sense of belonging. It gives communities the confidence to proudly share their culture, traditions, and talents in a space without barriers,” says Hai Nguyen, DiverseCity Coordinator, Immigrant and Refugee Services Association.
