Reading and book launch
Island poet Jennifer Platts-Fanning at Bookmark—June 10

Bookmark, Charlottetown’s independent bookstore, will be hosting Island poet Jennifer Platts-Fanning on June 10 at 7 pm. In celebration of the launch of Dandelion Rebellion (Pownal Street Press), Jennifer and friends will be reading from her new collection.
“Jennifer Platts-Fanning’s new book, Dandelion Rebellion, is a dramatic, stream-of-consciousness exploration of wildness in its many guises, by turn oracular, cathartic, ferocious, environmentally-savvy, dream-saturated, and humorous,” says Jan Conn, Canadian biologist, poet, and visual artist. “The book is divided into nine waypoints, each simply and effectively illustrated by a different stage of a dandelion flower’s brief life, providing visual cues to a sense of urgency that permeates the writing.”
Jennifer Platts-Fanning is the recipient of multiple PEI Writers’ Guild Island Literary Awards. Her poetry appears in The Dalhousie Review, White Wall Review, and other journals. Her restless, empathetic voice explores memory, nature, and belonging. A playwright and forest steward, she volunteers with PEI Ground Search and Rescue, living by the motto: “That Others May Live.”
This is a free event, and all are welcome. 111 Kent Street in Charlottetown.
