A Gentle Reminder

Sarah Nicole Dart installation in the North Nook Gallery

The North Nook Gallery presents A Gentle Reminder, a new installation by Sarah Nicole Dart created for Mental Health Awareness Month.

The work is inspired by a struggle a loved one recently experienced, and reflects on how a buildup of extreme stress, loneliness, lack of sleep, and dehydration can be enough to make the brain experience survival mode.

β€œIt’s important we create dialogue with the people in our lives, about what we are going through, so that we have the support we need to heal,” says Dart.

Dart, a self-taught interdisciplinary artist from Vancouver Island who has called Charlottetown home for the past four years, encourages viewers to check in on their loved ones during the month of Mindfulness (Mental Health Awareness) May.

Since 2016 Dart has been experimenting with Cyanotype chemistry, and her work includes themes about biodiversity, mental health, and the importance of practicing mindfulness.

The North Nook Gallery is a partnership between The Fitzroy St. Tiny Art Gallery and The Arts Guild.
