Poetry Revision Workshop with Bren Simmers

Author and PEI Poet Laureate Bren Simmers will facilitate a poetry revision workshop to offer tricks for taking poems to the next level at The Arts Guild on April 25 from 12–3 pm.

Starting with a rough or stalled draft, participants will identify what’s working and what’s not, play with order, and talk about beginnings and endings. Writers will apply the fine grit to line breaks, word choice, and titles. The group will also discuss when to send poems out for publication and look through examples of literary journals to identify potential fit. Participants are encouraged to bring 3–4 poems they want to revise to the workshop. Everyone will also generate new work that they can revise on the spot.
