The Victoria Playhouse, PEI’s longest-running little theatre, announces its 2026 summer season, “A Season of Wonder,” running from June 23 to September 19. The thoughtfully curated lineup invites audiences to reconnect with curiosity, storytelling, music, and shared experience in one of Atlantic Canada’s most intimate and historic performance venues.

Nestled in the picturesque seaside village of Victoria-by-the-Sea, the Playhouse has been a cornerstone of Island cultural life for over four decades, known for its warm atmosphere and high-calibre programming. The 2026 season brings together an eclectic mix of music, theatre, and storytelling.

The Ross Family Ceilidh returns with weekly performances to celebrate its 20th anniversary, continuing a tradition of high-energy, family-centred East Coast music.

Steve Patterson, Patrick Ledwell, and Mark Haines return for three nights of Comedy Night Victoria by the Sea, a celebration of stand-up comedy and new storytelling styles.

Sean McCann’s SOS Tour delivers an evening of music and candid storytelling from the former Great Big Sea member, grounded in themes of resilience and recovery.

Eight performances of The Wonder of it All by Mark Weatherly and PEI-native Monique Lund will anchor the season’s theme, exploring life’s small and extraordinary moments.

Nudie’s Legends of Country: Songs & Stories from the Golden Era revisits the roots of country music with wit, warmth, and deep musical knowledge.

Tunes and Tales delivers an engaging, family-friendly production blending music and storytelling for all ages.

Mass for Shut Outs by Tanya Davis brings poetic insight and emotional depth in a work that offers insight into solitude, ritual, and human connection.

How to Live with Dread by Jane Wells explores the complexities of grief and modern anxiety with intelligence and dark humour.

Serge Bernard’s Folk Songs of the Mountains of Appalachia examines the roots of traditional song heritage and storytelling.

The Playhouse also presents a dynamic Music Monday Series, featuring one-night performances by some of Atlantic Canada’s most respected artists: The Janet McGarry Band, Catherine MacLellan, Daniel James McFadyen, Kristen Martell, Scott Parsons, Inn Echo, and Terra Spencer.

Expanding the season’s contemporary voice, audiences can experience two live recordings of Uma and Selma Gahd’s Dear Gahd Advice Column Podcast LIVE, offering sharp, comedic, and culturally resonant commentary by a top drag duo from Montreal.

In what is becoming a new tradition for the Playhouse, the season will kick off with four performances of Tim Kelly’s adaptation of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, presented in mid-June by the Victoria Playhouse Theatre School students.
