Highlights include the mainstay production of Anne & Gilbert: The Musical; Meanwhile In Ward 16, a new sketch comedy show by Islander Rob MacDonald; Next Generation Legends, a Mi’maq Heritage Actors production; and Singalong Jubilee, a new show paying tribute to the hit Canadian TV show.

Running four times a week from August 30 to October 12, Singalong Jubilee,  a musical tribute, is a brand new theatrical celebration of the music, the people, and the stories of one of the most-watched television programs in Canadian history. Conceived and directed by Nova Scotian Geordie Brown, the show is being developed as a Guild production, with support from Confederation Centre of the Arts. Leading the cast is Julien Kitson of Stratford. The show will also feature Islander Andrew Murray, Rebecca McCauley, and Charlotte Moore.

Anne & Gilbert: The Musical returns to The Guild for its seventh season. Jankov highlighted the success the show has seen in recent years at the box office, noting its steadfast ability to fill the 140-seat theatre to capacity six times a week.

Comedian Rob MacDonald plays Jamie Cox, an outspoken city councilor, in Meanwhile In Ward 16: A Charlottetown Soap Opera. Written and performed by Rob Macdonald, the show will also feature Graham Putnam, Matt Rainnie, and special guests.

This season will also highlight The Guild’s Music Theatre School, lead by Lori Linkletter. Students from the school will populate both Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. and Disney’s Madagascar Jr. The shows play at morning showtimes in July in August.

Family entertainment will include the Ross Family Ceilidh, running weekly through the summer and fall. The show features fiddle tunes and step dancing.

The festival will also present Islanders Helen Killorn and Justin Shaw in Salt Water Moon, and Sherri-Lee Pike in Here’s to 40. Late night entertainment will include Charlottetown Burlesque and the return of improv troupe Popalopalots.

The Mi’kmaq Heritage Actors’ new show Next Generation Legends will play through July.
