Sheila Ann Smith and the Diamond Jazz Collective returns to Beaconsfield Historic House in Charlottetown on August 14 for an evening of live music and dancing.

Diamond Jazz Collective is a group of musicians who come together to perform smooth, easy-listening jazz in the spirit of Sinatra, Michael Bublé, and Ella Fitzgerald, with familiar favourites, popular tunes, and a few Latin-tinged twists thrown in. 

Series producer Sheila Ann Smith moved to the PEI eleven years ago. She is a singer-songwriter and musician with deep family roots on the Island. 

“I fell in love with ballroom dancing while visiting Vienna, Austria, and have wanted to bring that same classy dance night feeling home to Charlottetown ever since,” says Smith, the series producer. “This series is my way of doing just that.”

The lineup shifts depending on who’s available, but the feeling stays the same. For this performance, the group features Ian Toms on guitar, Chris Martell on upright bass, Danika Poirier on drums, and Sheila Ann Smith on vocals and keys.

The evening begins with a free dance lesson and demonstration at 6:30 pm, with Buenos Island Studio and Downstreet Dance, before the music starts at 7 pm. 

The event takes place on the grounds at Beaconsfield, weather permitting, with the historic Carriage House ready as a backup. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets are available through Eventbrite or at sheilaannsmith.online.
