Hilary MacMillan headlines this year’s event
Canadian designer Hilary MacMillan will headline this year’s PEI Fashion Weekend, bringing her bold vision, commitment to size diversity, and internationally recognized design excellence to PEI on May 1 and 2.
As one of Canada’s most influential contemporary designers, MacMillan is known for her size-diverse, ethically made collections produced in Canada. Her work has been featured in Vogue, ELLE Canada, The Globe and Mail, and Fashion Magazine, and she is a two-time Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards winner, including Womenswear Designer of the Year.
Her appearance at PEI Fashion Weekend marks a defining moment for an event that continues to gain national recognition while remaining deeply rooted in Atlantic Canada’s growing fashion community.
Now one of Atlantic Canada’s largest runway fashion events, PEI Fashion Weekend welcomed nearly 800 guests in 2025 and continues to expand as a platform for both established Canadian designers and emerging talent. This year’s event will showcase designers from PEI, NB, and NS, highlighting the strength and creativity of the Maritime fashion scene.
At the core of PEI Fashion Weekend is a commitment to authentic representation on the runway. As global fashion weeks in cities like Paris, New York, and London face increasing scrutiny over the gap between who is represented on the runway and who is actually buying the clothing, PEIFW has made it a priority from the beginning to approach fashion differently.
This year’s runway will feature a diverse cast of models ranging from sizes 0–22, representing a wide range of heights, cultures, and ethnicities, a reflection of real people and real communities.
By centering representation alongside design excellence, PEI Fashion Weekend continues to position itself at the forefront of a broader shift in the industry, one that is redefining what fashion looks like in Canada and who it is for.
PEI Fashion Weekend highlights include the Runway Extravaganza Show at the Delta Hotel on May 1 at 7:30 pm and the Fashion City Day at Confederation Court Mall on May 2 from 10 am–4 pm.
