New initiatives for PEI performing arts creators
The Arts Guild has launched two new initiatives aimed at strengthening the performing arts sector on PEI: the Creative Career Catalyst Series, a focused training program designed to support local theatre artists and curious, creative community members in building sustainable, self-driven creative careers; and CultureSHIFT, a new initiative focused on advancing equity and inclusion within the local arts ecosystem.
The Creative Career Catalyst Series is a professional development program designed specifically for adult theatre artists at any stage of their careers or development. Structured in three phases—Dream It, Build It, Share It—the series supports participants in developing original work from concept to presentation. Through hands-on workshops, mentorship, and peer collaboration, artists will build skills in creation, producing, and performing, with a focus on sustaining independent theatre practice in today’s evolving arts landscape.
CultureSHIFT is an initiative that centres upon underrepresented voices and cultures while working to reduce systemic barriers within the arts community. By removing financial barriers to access The Arts Guild space, CultureSHIFT creates opportunities for artists who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour to share their cultures through performance and connect with peers in an inclusive, supportive environment. Throughout the year, CultureSHIFT will facilitate up to 12 public events celebrating diverse cultures that enrich PEI.
Programming for both initiatives will roll out soon, with additional details and registration information available at theguildpei.com.
