Applications for the Film4Ward program’s 2022 stream of short film production funding opened this week on Oct. 4. Short films are often considered the “calling cards” of a filmmaker’s career and, since its launch in 2018, Film4Ward has funded and supported the production of 15 P.E.I.-made short films.

This year, emerging and professional filmmaking teams are eligible to apply for up to $20,000 of funding toward their narrative or documentary project’s production. The four successful teams will also have access to on-the-job training opportunities and workshops facilitated by FilmPEI, as well as targeted mentoring opportunities by industry professionals.

The deadline to apply for the 2022 stream is Dec. 6, 2021. That means filmmakers have two months to write their scripts and put together a team to apply. Film4Ward is funded by the P.E.I. Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture through Innovation P.E.I. and the Culture Action Plan – with additional funding provided by Telefilm Canada and CBC – and is coordinated by FilmPEI.
