New director at Music PEI
Board selects Andy Glydon for leadership role

Music PEI has announced that longtime Program Officer and respected industry professional Andy Glydon will step into the role of Executive Director on March 14, 2026, as the organization enters a new chapter focused on industry development, community building, and strategic growth.
Following the announcement of Executive Director Rob Oakie’s upcoming retirement, the Board undertook an internal review of Music PEI’s strategic priorities, operational needs, and long-term goals. Given Music PEI’s current strategic momentum and the importance of maintaining continuity during a period of growth, the Board determined that an internal candidate would best support a smooth and stable transition. Andy’s extensive institutional knowledge, trusted relationships with staff, members, and funders, and demonstrated leadership made them the clear and unanimous choice. The Board also believes that promoting from within reflects Music PEI’s commitment to developing and advancing its staff, sending a positive message about investing in the people who help drive the organization forward.
“As announced at the 2025 Music PEI AGM, I will be stepping down as the Executive Director in March 2026 after 18 years of the most fulfilling work of my life,” shares Rob Oakie, outgoing Executive Director. “I could not be happier to see Andy Glydon step into the role. Promoting from within is exactly the right step for the organization. Andy has demonstrated unwavering dedication and passion for our members over the past five years, and I have complete confidence in their leadership and vision. Music PEI is in very capable hands.”
Before stepping into the Executive Director role, Andy spent five years working across nearly every area of Music PEI’s operations. They first joined the organization through a workforce development program in 2021, later becoming the Community Outreach & Communications Coordinator and ultimately the Program Officer. In this capacity, Andy expanded Music PEI’s funding programs, secured new operational and program investments, strengthened internal systems and policies, and led initiatives aimed at improving safety and equity within the Island’s music industry. Andy’s reputation for thoughtful leadership, community advocacy, and innovative program development has earned trust across the sector, both locally and nationally.
“I’m deeply honoured to be stepping into this role at Music PEI. I’ve built my career around a community I admire and respect, and I’m beyond excited to continue supporting and advocating for the Island’s music industry in this new capacity,” said Andy Glydon, incoming Executive Director. “I’m grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board, by Rob, and by our wider industry, and I look forward to working alongside our artists, industry professionals, and partners to create opportunities that reflect the heart, creativity, and future of PEI’s music sector. Music PEI has a strong foundation, and I’m committed to stewarding its next chapter with care, collaboration, and vision.”
