PEI author Sheryl Stacey Neilson released her debut fantasy romance novel Lands of Fire and Ice in June, inviting readers into a sweeping fantasy realm where danger, destiny, and romance collide.

Forty-two years ago, the misuse of Orra—an ancient and untamed magic—shattered the land, calling the guardians from the sky and splitting one world into two. Fire claimed one kingdom. Ice sealed the other. Between them rose the Veil, a sanctuary, a divide, a memory and a temptation.

For Maelora, heir to the kingdom of Celeste, the Veil has been a place shared among the Orraborn, where the weight of crowns could be set aside. But what once offered refuge is changing. Loss lingers. Fear follows. She needs answers. And with every crossing, the Veil’s truths close in.

Toren, prince of Scaldren Rill, has spent his life contained by duty, a crown he never chose and expectations he has never challenged. As the Orra stirs, Toren is forced to choose between obedience and betrayal, between the expectations that shaped him and the man he’s becoming. Drawn to the edge of a forbidden love, he stands on the brink of a future he was never meant to claim.

As their paths converge, the lines between duty, desire, and destiny begin to blur, while something far older than kingdoms begins to rise in the shadows.
