Harbourfront Theatre’s December line-up features shows for all ages.
At the start of the month, Fandango Musical Players present Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods on December 6, 7, 12 to 14. The famous musical, performed by an all-local cast, sees the stories of classic fairy-tale characters intertwining as they each journey into the woods and the learn about the responsibility that comes with getting your wishes granted.
On December 20 Harbourfront Theatre presents Holly Jolly Christmas, an evening of holiday music, stories, sing-along-songs, and Christmas treats. It’s a night featuring popular Christmas and holiday music performed by Island entertainers Kendall Docherty, Catherine O’Brien and Caroline Bernard. They will be backed up by The Reindeer Express made of Devin Hornby (bass), Trevor Grant (drums) Don Fraser (keyboards), and Perry Williams (guitar). Holly Jolly Christmas will also feature storyteller Marlane O’Brien who’ll share Christmas stories to take audience members back to holidays gone by. The theatre will provide complimentary baked Christmas goodies to audience members at intermission.
Finishing the month, Harbourfront presents DuffleBag Theatre: Sleeping Beauty on December 29 at 2 pm. DuffleBag Theatre performs interactive plays tailored for young audiences telling family-favourite stories with the DuffleBag troupe’s signature wit and quirky twists. Some audience members may even be called onto the stage to help bring the story to life.
