Charlottetown artist Hailey MacIsaac joins Halifax based producer and collaborator Bray Schurman in the release of their debut digital album In A Dark Room, which became available on streaming services August 16.
In A Dark Room is a concept album contrasting MacIsaac’s emotive side to its more brash counterpart. The project explores themes of deep introspection, interpersonal issues, misunderstanding, and triumph.
Throughout the project, the pop-based duo experiment with genre as they incorporate undertones of
r ‘n’ b, reggae, rock, country western, jazz-fusion, and dance-pop in their tracks to create a unique pop sound.
Nova Scotia producer Clint Snow co-produces with Schurman on the song “H8 U,” and lead guitarist, Matt Fraser (NS), features on title track “Dark Room” and follow-up “Bleed.” Island artists Logan Richard (of Adam Gallant’s The Hill Sound Studio) and David Rashed (The Studio At The Guild) are vocal engineers on the project.
