Family Service PEI has launched its From Partner to Parents program, with the first cohort beginning on August 17 and 24 in Summerside. The transition to parenthood changes everything, including relationships. Based on the Gottman Institute’s Bringing Baby Home, this is a research-based workshop designed to help couples strengthen communication, maintain connection, and navigate the realities of early parenting as a team. Couples should expect to walk away with a practical toolkit for deepening friendship and intimacy, navigating conflict, healthy co-parenting, and building a positive parent-child relationship. This is not group therapy, and there is no group sharing required. Instead, couples participate in guided learning and have dedicated time to practice new skills together privately in a comfortable and confidential environment. The workshop is designed for any couple who are expecting or newly parenting a child under three years old, including through adoption or fostering. This is offered using a pay-what-you-can model.
