DESCRIPTION:This season at The Haviland\, Tea & Tales invites guests into a Victorian-inspired tea and storytelling experience inside one of Charlottetown’s historic homes. \nGuests gather around shared tables as tea is poured and tiered stands arrive with sandwiches\, scones with preserves and cream\, and a selection of desserts. Throughout the experience\, stories inspired by Victorian Charlottetown\, the house itself\, and the people connected to it will unfold in the Great Room. \nAt the centre of the story is Esther Lowden—believed to be one of PEI’s earliest female entrepreneurs and among Canada’s first businesswomen. In a time when women were rarely recognized in business\, Esther built a remarkable life through determination\, hospitality\, and vision. Over time\, much of her story faded into history.  \nThis year marks the 190th anniversary of her birth. Attendees will have a chance to rediscover and celebrate a woman who helped shape a small part of the Island’s past.  \nFor visitors\, it offers a different way to experience Charlottetown beyond the usual itinerary. DESCRIPTION:Confederation Centre of the Arts invites families to step through the Polka Dot Door this summer for a joyful\, music-filled adventure celebrating imagination and kindness. Based on one of Canada’s most beloved children’s television shows\, the production runs on select dates from July 13–August 22 as part of the 2026 Charlottetown Festival. \n\n\n\nPresented free of charge at the Confederation Centre Amphitheatre\, this lively Theatre for Young Audiences musical welcomes Islanders and visitors alike to rediscover the playful world that helped shape generations of Canadian childhoods. The performance starts at 11 am\, and runs most Mondays through Saturdays. \n\n\n\nIn this high-energy interactive production\, two hosts invite young audiences to “peep through” a larger-than-life polka dot door where new PEI-flavoured songs\, stories\, and surprises burst into action. When Polkaroo appears and a little theatrical magic sets the day in motion\, the adventure takes off through pirate treasure hunts\, storytime hijinks\, and the Imagination Olympiad\, where young audience members help shape the action. \n\n\n\nFilled with music\, movement\, and audience participation\, Polka Dot Door celebrates creativity\, belonging\, and the power of imagination. When one of the characters begins to wonder where they fit\, the group discovers that kindness and acceptance are the strongest magic of all. \n\n\n\nDirected and written by Adam Brazier\, with music by Morgan Saulnier and Adam Brazier\, the production features choreography by Kristen Pottle\, design by Holly Meyer Dymny\, music direction by Morgan Saulnier\, and stage management by Olena Polyvach. \n\n\n\nFeaturing a fully local Island cast\, the production stars Eric Cerisano\, Julia Cerisano\, Kat Cummings\, Kathleen Henthorn\, Samel Sunil\, Kaitlyn Thompkins\, and Ryan Whitty. DESCRIPTION:The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation (PEIMHF) invites Island residents and visitors to explore the Basin Head Marine Protected Area this summer through an expanded guided tour featuring hands-on conservation activities and immersive experiences that highligh the area’s natural and cultural heritage. \nParticipants will experience one of Canada’s Marine Protected Areas while learning about the region’s natural and human history over the past thousand years. Guides explore the threats facing the giant Irish moss that grows in the lagoon and the current efforts to protect it. \nThe tour includes a visit to Basin Head beach to discover why the famous “Singing Sands” happen\, and hear the Mi’kmaq\, Celtic\, and French folklore connected to the shore. Visitors can also get a hands-on experience in conservation by pulling a Green Crab trap and learn about the impact of this and other invasive species on delicate ecosystems. \nThe experience concludes with making ice cream in the cannery while learning about the historic mossing industry and the role of carrageenan in everyday life. Visitors can then explore a digital kiosk and take home a souvenir—a small bottle of Singing Sand. \nTours depart from the Basin Head Fisheries Museum Monday to Friday at 11 am and 2 pm\, with additional times added as needed. DESCRIPTION:Gadelle\, the popular traditional Acadian music group from Prince Edward Island\, will return to Village musical acadien in Abram-Village this summer\, where the group will perform in Ti-Manuel’s Barn Tuesdays through Fridays from July 7 to August 27. \nGadelle is composed of four musicians from the Evangeline region\, all of whom have established international reputations in other groups. Fiddler Louise Arsenault and organist-singer Hélène Bergeron are former members of the groups Barachois and Les Girls\, which are themselves recognized around the world. Singer\, guitarist\, pianist\, and accordionist Caroline Bernard (also formerly of Les Girls) and multi-instrumentalist Rémi Arsenault have also performed on stages around the globe. \nThe members of Gadelle dance and play with joy\, conviction\, and ferocity. DESCRIPTION:La Veillée au Village 2026 dinner theatre features a group of professional performers serving up a blend of music and comedy following a four-course meal. This popular show takes the stage at the Village musical acadien in Abram-Village on select dates from July 8–September 1. \nThe cast—returning from last year—includes fiddler Anastasia DesRoches\, singers and multi-instrumentalists Dawson Arsenault and Caroline Bernard\, bass player Rémi Arsenault\, drummer Yves Arsenault\, and guitarist Jason Burbine. Rémi Arsenault is also the musical and artistic director\, with Albert Arsenault and Hélène Arsenault-Bergeron (both formerly of Barachois) contributing to the comedy sketches. \nThe evening begins with the first three courses of the meal before the show launches into sketches filled with colourful characters\, competitive spirits\, and offbeat situations. Strong personalities clash\, tease one another\, and create memorable moments. After the laughter comes Acadian music\, featuring fiddle\, accordion\, and catchy songs. Following dessert\, a second set continues with more comedy and Acadian kitchen party music. \nRegular performances will take place July 8\, 14\, 15\, 21\, 22\, 28\, and 29; August 4\, 5\, 11\, 12\, 18\, 19\, 25\, and 26; and September 1. Special performances on July 23 and August 20 will feature the comedy duo Mélina pi Gélina\, Caroline Bernard’s family (July 23)\, and additional guests (August 20). \nTickets must be reserved or purchased in advance online at villagemusical.ca or in person at the Village musical acadien reception desk.

DESCRIPTION:Anne & Gilbert\, The Musical returns for its 22nd season this spring with a milestone debut: Island performer Holly Perry will take on the role of Anne Shirley for the first time\, wearing the original Anne dress created for the musical’s first season in 2005. \nThe 26-year-old Acadian performer from Prince County has been part of the cast since 2022\, but 2026 marks her first season in the title role. The historic costume she will wear was designed for the show’s premiere at the Victoria Playhouse in Victoria-by-the-Sea\, PEI\, more than two decades ago\, and hasn’t been worn since. \nThe original costume reflects the character’s Island roots: simple\, practical and earth-toned\, with shades of green reminiscent of PEI fields and rust-coloured trim echoing the province’s soil. While inspired by late-19th-century fashion\, the dress was designed for movement and performance rather than strict historical rigidity. DESCRIPTION:Ross Family Ceilidh celebrates its 20th anniversary with a fresh show highlighting the group’s growing focus on songwriting and storytelling while continuing to explore roots-trad songs and tunes of the Island. The show’s content is dynamic\, ranging from light and lively to sensitive and deep\, united by the theme of home and its people\, yesterday and today. \nIn addition to showcasing originals and its Acadian and Scots-Gaelic heritage\, the group lets loose\, interpreting selections from influential Island songwriters such as Stompin’ Tom\, Gene MacLellan\, Angele Arsenault\, and more. Rounding out the show are fiddle set staples\, with stepdancing and piano-playing hijinks. \nThe group consists of Stephanie Ross (vocals\, guitar\, bodhran\, percussion\, dance)\, Danielle Ross-Cairns (vocals\, fiddle\, percussion\, dance)\, and Johnny Ross (piano\, keyboards). \nAfter twenty years of performing this music series together\, the sibling trio has become very comfortable with one another. Each performance will feature new standup comedy from Island favourite Patrick Ledwell\, along with the songs audiences want to hear from Vintage 2.0\, performed with two acoustic guitars and rich harmonies. \nLongtime co-performers Don Bowers and Tim MacPherson will bring their deep Vintage 2.0 songbook to join Ledwell’s comedy series.  \nThe friends will pull together stories and songs in new combinations to keep the audience singing and sometimes even playing along. \nThe nights will showcase “Who Wants to Be an Islander” trivia\, laugh-out-loud stories plucked from PEI headlines\, and chances to hear classic TV themes recast in local Island communities. \nTickets can be purchased online at trailside.ca\, or by calling Back Alley Music at 902-367-3311. \n
