SUMMARY:Polka Dot Door
DESCRIPTION:Confederation Centre of the Arts invites families to step through the Polka Dot Door this summer for a joyful\, music-filled adventure celebrating imagination and kindness. Based on one of Canada’s most beloved children’s television shows\, the production runs on select dates from July 13–August 22 as part of the 2026 Charlottetown Festival. \n\n\n\nPresented free of charge at the Confederation Centre Amphitheatre\, this lively Theatre for Young Audiences musical welcomes Islanders and visitors alike to rediscover the playful world that helped shape generations of Canadian childhoods. The performance starts at 11 am\, and runs most Mondays through Saturdays. \n\n\n\nIn this high-energy interactive production\, two hosts invite young audiences to “peep through” a larger-than-life polka dot door where new PEI-flavoured songs\, stories\, and surprises burst into action. When Polkaroo appears and a little theatrical magic sets the day in motion\, the adventure takes off through pirate treasure hunts\, storytime hijinks\, and the Imagination Olympiad\, where young audience members help shape the action. \n\n\n\nFilled with music\, movement\, and audience participation\, Polka Dot Door celebrates creativity\, belonging\, and the power of imagination. When one of the characters begins to wonder where they fit\, the group discovers that kindness and acceptance are the strongest magic of all. \n\n\n\nDirected and written by Adam Brazier\, with music by Morgan Saulnier and Adam Brazier\, the production features choreography by Kristen Pottle\, design by Holly Meyer Dymny\, music direction by Morgan Saulnier\, and stage management by Olena Polyvach. \n\n\n\nFeaturing a fully local Island cast\, the production stars Eric Cerisano\, Julia Cerisano\, Kat Cummings\, Kathleen Henthorn\, Samel Sunil\, Kaitlyn Thompkins\, and Ryan Whitty. Entrance is free and donations to the Centre’s programming are greatly appreciated. \n\n\n\nThe show runs approximately 45 minutes and is designed for children and families of all ages. \n\n\n\nconfederationcentre.com

SUMMARY:City Cinema: Unidentified
DESCRIPTION:Mystery/Drama. 14A.\nDir: Haifaa Al-Mansour\, Saudi Arabia\, 2026\, 101 min.\nMila Al Zahrani\, Aziz Gharbawi\, Shafi Al Harthi\, Adwa Alasiri.\nIn Arabic with English subtitles. \n“Unidentified delivers a searing\, female-driven story that goes beyond genre conventions to explore deep cultural and gender dynamics in Saudi Arabia. Director Haifaa Al-Mansour’s film unfolds like a straightforward crime thriller\, but it’s the surprise twist in the second half that really gives the film its bite. The story revolves around the discovery of a young woman’s body in the desert that can’t be identified. The Riyadh police bring in Nawal\, a receptionist with a keen interest in true crime\, to assist their all-male investigative team. Nawal’s unique perspective and determination drive the film forward\, as she navigates a patriarchal system reluctant to confront uncomfortable truths… The slow build pays off with a gripping\, emotionally charged second half that elevates the film from a basic procedural into something much more profound… The film’s exploration of the limits (and silent rebellions) of female Saudi culture is insightful and nuanced\, avoiding stereotypes and instead offering a complex portrait of women navigating a patriarchal society… The final act’s tension and revelations make for a powerful conclusion… Unidentified is a smart\, socially conscious thriller that grows into its story.” —Louisa Moore\, Screen Zealots

SUMMARY:C’Mon In! An Island Kitchen Party
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, C’Mon In! An Island Kitchen Party brings the spirit of an Atlantic Canadian kitchen party to the stage at The Mack in Charlottetown\, running from June 6–August 29. \nThe production places audiences inside a familiar Maritime setting where music\, storytelling\, and humour unfold over the course of the evening. Blending concert performance with comedy and easy\, join-in moments\, C’Mon In! reflects a tradition where shared songs and stories shape the experience as much as the music itself. \nThe show is led by Island artists Robbie Doherty and Pierce Clarke\, whose shared background in music and storytelling anchors the production. Clarke\, a PEI-born multi-instrumentalist and Berklee College of Music graduate\, brings performances shaped by Island life and personal narrative. Doherty contributes a diverse career spanning tribute bands\, ECMA-nominated children’s recordings\, theatre\, and broadcasting. Together\, they guide the evening with an informal\, conversational approach that mirrors the atmosphere of a traditional kitchen party. \n Drawing from the Atlantic Canadian songbook\, C’Mon In! features music by artists including Stompin’ Tom Connors\, Anne Murray\, and Great Big Sea\, alongside moments of banter and audience interaction that evolve naturally from performance to performance. \nTickets and information are available at confederationcentre.com/cmonin.
