SUMMARY:Tea & Tales – Victorian High Tea & Storytelling Experience
DESCRIPTION:This season at The Haviland\, Tea & Tales invites guests into a Victorian-inspired tea and storytelling experience inside one of Charlottetown’s historic homes. \nGuests gather around shared tables as tea is poured and tiered stands arrive with sandwiches\, scones with preserves and cream\, and a selection of desserts. Throughout the experience\, stories inspired by Victorian Charlottetown\, the house itself\, and the people connected to it will unfold in the Great Room. \nAt the centre of the story is Esther Lowden—believed to be one of PEI’s earliest female entrepreneurs and among Canada’s first businesswomen. In a time when women were rarely recognized in business\, Esther built a remarkable life through determination\, hospitality\, and vision. Over time\, much of her story faded into history.  \nThis year marks the 190th anniversary of her birth. Attendees will have a chance to rediscover and celebrate a woman who helped shape a small part of the Island’s past.  \nFor visitors\, it offers a different way to experience Charlottetown beyond the usual itinerary. For Islanders\, it may feel a little like rediscovering the city itself. \nTea & Tales runs until October on select Tuesdays\, Wednesdays\, and Thursdays at 2 Haviland Street in Charlottetown. \n Visit teaandtalespei.com for reservations and more information.

SUMMARY:The Bog Tour
DESCRIPTION:Beaconsfield Historic House announced the return of the Bog Tour\, an immersive guided walking experience exploring the history of Charlottetown’s Bog neighbourhood. This powerful program honours the legacy of Prince Edward Island’s historical Black community and invites participants to engage with lesser-known stories from the Island’s past. The tour is free to attend. \nBeginning at Beaconsfield Historic House\, the tour leads visitors through the former site of The Bog\, a 19th-century racially integrated neighbourhood\, which included free and formerly enslaved individuals and their descendants. Through carefully researched storytelling\, the tour brings to life a vibrant community that once stood in contrast to the grandeur of nearby estates. \nVisitors will explore locations that highlight the experiences\, resilience\, and contributions of Bog residents\, such as Samuel Martin and Kesiah Sheppard\, co-founders of the Bog\, or educator Sarah Harvie\, who taught for many years at the Bog school. \nEnhancements and updates to the tour route and programming are ready for 2026\, offering new perspectives and experiences. \nIn July and August\, the Bog Tour will be offered from Monday to Saturday at 11 am and 2 pm\, and Sundays at 12 pm. \nFor more information\, call 902-368-6600\, visit peimuseum.ca\, or follow @heritagepei on social media.

SUMMARY:La Veillée au Village

SUMMARY:City Cinema: Rose of Nevada
DESCRIPTION:Drama. 14A\, language.\nDir: Mark Jenkin\, UK\, 2026\, 114 min.\nGeorge MacKay\, Callum Turner\, Emily Daglish-Laine. \n“A local discovers a little fishing boat washed up on a quiet harbour… And so the scene is set for a time-twisting fishing village mystery: one that may never be solved\, but remains atmospheric and intriguing throughout. The Rose of Nevada was lost at sea 30 years ago\, along with its small crew\, in the days when the fishing village prospered. Now\, its scant population includes those still deep in mourning\, and those struggling to provide for their families\, such as Nick. When Nick agrees to join a fishing trip on the newly-returned trawler\, an ominous\, superstitious sense prevails. But rather than not coming home at all\, Nick returns in a different year: 1993\, a few years before he was even born. With him in this time loop is his crew mate Liam. Rather than being greeted as strangers\, they are each welcomed back as a former crew member of the Rose. While the opportunistic Liam accepts being taken for the partner of a local\, Nick is understandably freaked out to be mistaken for the son of his neighbours: a man he knows to be long dead in the present day… Rose of Nevada is very much its own film. Rooted in fishing folklore\, it muses on myths and mystery\, on the loss of livelihoods and loved ones. Eerie yet entertaining\, it’s Jenkin’s most accessible film so far.” —Anna Smith\, Time Out
