SUMMARY:The Bog Tour
DESCRIPTION:Beaconsfield Historic House announced the return of the Bog Tour\, an immersive guided walking experience exploring the history of Charlottetown’s Bog neighbourhood. This powerful program honours the legacy of Prince Edward Island’s historical Black community and invites participants to engage with lesser-known stories from the Island’s past. The tour is free to attend. \nBeginning at Beaconsfield Historic House\, the tour leads visitors through the former site of The Bog\, a 19th-century racially integrated neighbourhood\, which included free and formerly enslaved individuals and their descendants. Through carefully researched storytelling\, the tour brings to life a vibrant community that once stood in contrast to the grandeur of nearby estates. \nVisitors will explore locations that highlight the experiences\, resilience\, and contributions of Bog residents\, such as Samuel Martin and Kesiah Sheppard\, co-founders of the Bog\, or educator Sarah Harvie\, who taught for many years at the Bog school. \nEnhancements and updates to the tour route and programming are ready for 2026\, offering new perspectives and experiences. \nIn July and August\, the Bog Tour will be offered from Monday to Saturday at 11 am and 2 pm\, and Sundays at 12 pm. \nFor more information\, call 902-368-6600\, visit peimuseum.ca\, or follow @heritagepei on social media.

SUMMARY:Tea & Tales – Victorian High Tea & Storytelling Experience
DESCRIPTION:This season at The Haviland\, Tea & Tales invites guests into a Victorian-inspired tea and storytelling experience inside one of Charlottetown’s historic homes. \nGuests gather around shared tables as tea is poured and tiered stands arrive with sandwiches\, scones with preserves and cream\, and a selection of desserts. Throughout the experience\, stories inspired by Victorian Charlottetown\, the house itself\, and the people connected to it will unfold in the Great Room. \nAt the centre of the story is Esther Lowden—believed to be one of PEI’s earliest female entrepreneurs and among Canada’s first businesswomen. In a time when women were rarely recognized in business\, Esther built a remarkable life through determination\, hospitality\, and vision. Over time\, much of her story faded into history.  \nThis year marks the 190th anniversary of her birth. Attendees will have a chance to rediscover and celebrate a woman who helped shape a small part of the Island’s past.  \nFor visitors\, it offers a different way to experience Charlottetown beyond the usual itinerary. For Islanders\, it may feel a little like rediscovering the city itself. \nTea & Tales runs until October on select Tuesdays\, Wednesdays\, and Thursdays at 2 Haviland Street in Charlottetown. \n Visit teaandtalespei.com for reservations and more information.

SUMMARY:City Cinema: The Last One for the Road
DESCRIPTION:Comedy/Drama. 14A\, coarse language\, substance use\, brief nudity.\nDir: Francesco Sossai\, Italy\, 2025\, 100 min.\nFilippo Scotti\, Sergio Romano\, Pierpaolo Capovilla.\nIn Italian with English subtitles.\nWinner of 8 Donatello Awards (Italy’s Oscars)\, including Best Film\, Director\, Actor\, Screenplay\, and Song. \n“Set in Veneto\, this lively comedy deconstructs the road movie genre as three men travel in circles looking for their next final drink together… Highlighting local culture and landscapes… It’s a charmer of a film that keeps a smile on our faces all the way through. After drinking all day\, childhood friends Carlobianchi and Doriano are beginning to feel a bit tired as they begin killing some time before collecting their pal Genio from Venice airport in the morning… They run into a group of partying university students. Bringing young Giulio with them as they continue through the night\, they revisit old haunts and have a series of mini-adventures… Amusing details fill each encounter… as they crisscross the countryside\, filling in their back-story with witty flashbacks to their youth… Meanwhile\, their antics are packed with realistic flourishes that are funny\, surprising and even moving… Carlobianchi and Doriano extend their open-hearted\, inebriated joy to Giulio… It’s wonderful to watch him slowly awaken to the possibilities of life… Giulio is uncomfortable interacting with these older men\, but their open-hearted worldview is contagious. And they also begin to see through his eyes\, discovering new details about this corner of the world… Human connections\, even across seemingly unsurmountable cultural barriers\, are everything.” – Rich Cline\, Shadows on the Wall

SUMMARY:C’Mon In! An Island Kitchen Party
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, C’Mon In! An Island Kitchen Party brings the spirit of an Atlantic Canadian kitchen party to the stage at The Mack in Charlottetown\, running from June 6–August 29. \nThe production places audiences inside a familiar Maritime setting where music\, storytelling\, and humour unfold over the course of the evening. Blending concert performance with comedy and easy\, join-in moments\, C’Mon In! reflects a tradition where shared songs and stories shape the experience as much as the music itself. \nThe show is led by Island artists Robbie Doherty and Pierce Clarke\, whose shared background in music and storytelling anchors the production. Clarke\, a PEI-born multi-instrumentalist and Berklee College of Music graduate\, brings performances shaped by Island life and personal narrative. Doherty contributes a diverse career spanning tribute bands\, ECMA-nominated children’s recordings\, theatre\, and broadcasting. Together\, they guide the evening with an informal\, conversational approach that mirrors the atmosphere of a traditional kitchen party. \n Drawing from the Atlantic Canadian songbook\, C’Mon In! features music by artists including Stompin’ Tom Connors\, Anne Murray\, and Great Big Sea\, alongside moments of banter and audience interaction that evolve naturally from performance to performance. \nTickets and information are available at confederationcentre.com/cmonin.
