SUMMARY:Anne & Gilbert\, The Musical
DESCRIPTION:Anne & Gilbert\, The Musical returns for its 22nd season this spring with a milestone debut: Island performer Holly Perry will take on the role of Anne Shirley for the first time\, wearing the original Anne dress created for the musical’s first season in 2005. \nThe 26-year-old Acadian performer from Prince County has been part of the cast since 2022\, but 2026 marks her first season in the title role. The historic costume she will wear was designed for the show’s premiere at the Victoria Playhouse in Victoria-by-the-Sea\, PEI\, more than two decades ago\, and hasn’t been worn since. \nThe original costume reflects the character’s Island roots: simple\, practical and earth-toned\, with shades of green reminiscent of PEI fields and rust-coloured trim echoing the province’s soil. While inspired by late-19th-century fashion\, the dress was designed for movement and performance rather than strict historical rigidity. This is\, of course\, much like Anne herself\, who refuses to be constrained by convention. \nThough Anne & Gilbert is often promoted as the love story between Anne and her childhood rival\, the heart of the musical is Anne’s own journey—her determination\, imagination and refusal to be diminished. \nFeaturing a 20-member cast and orchestra\, Anne & Gilbert\, The Musical runs from May 5 to October 26 at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall in Charlottetown.  \nTickets are available online via anneandgilbert.com

SUMMARY:City Cinema: The Last One for the Road
DESCRIPTION:Comedy/Drama. 14A\, coarse language\, substance use\, brief nudity.\nDir: Francesco Sossai\, Italy\, 2025\, 100 min.\nFilippo Scotti\, Sergio Romano\, Pierpaolo Capovilla.\nIn Italian with English subtitles.\nWinner of 8 Donatello Awards (Italy’s Oscars)\, including Best Film\, Director\, Actor\, Screenplay\, and Song. \n“Set in Veneto\, this lively comedy deconstructs the road movie genre as three men travel in circles looking for their next final drink together… Highlighting local culture and landscapes… It’s a charmer of a film that keeps a smile on our faces all the way through. After drinking all day\, childhood friends Carlobianchi and Doriano are beginning to feel a bit tired as they begin killing some time before collecting their pal Genio from Venice airport in the morning… They run into a group of partying university students. Bringing young Giulio with them as they continue through the night\, they revisit old haunts and have a series of mini-adventures… Amusing details fill each encounter… as they crisscross the countryside\, filling in their back-story with witty flashbacks to their youth… Meanwhile\, their antics are packed with realistic flourishes that are funny\, surprising and even moving… Carlobianchi and Doriano extend their open-hearted\, inebriated joy to Giulio… It’s wonderful to watch him slowly awaken to the possibilities of life… Giulio is uncomfortable interacting with these older men\, but their open-hearted worldview is contagious. And they also begin to see through his eyes\, discovering new details about this corner of the world… Human connections\, even across seemingly unsurmountable cultural barriers\, are everything.” – Rich Cline\, Shadows on the Wall

SUMMARY:Relatively Speaking
DESCRIPTION:Watermark Theatre’s 2026 Summer Season features Alan Ayckbourn’s Relatively Speaking. \nIn 1960s London\, Greg is paying a visit to Ginny’s parents to ask for her hand in marriage. Blithely misinformed\, he arrives at the home of Philip and Sheila hoping they’ll give their blessing\, but no one is quite what they seem and nothing quite goes to plan. Relatively Speaking is a well-crafted\, funny\, and perfectly-paced comedy of misunderstandings that weaves an entanglement that will leave audiences guessing to the last minute. \nThe show runs on select dates from June 23 to August 29. \nFor tickets\, visit tickets.watermarktheatre.com or call the box office at 902-963-3963.

SUMMARY:The Ross Family Ceilidh 20th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:Ross Family Ceilidh celebrates its 20th anniversary with a fresh show highlighting the group’s growing focus on songwriting and storytelling while continuing to explore roots-trad songs and tunes of the Island. The show’s content is dynamic\, ranging from light and lively to sensitive and deep\, united by the theme of home and its people\, yesterday and today. \nIn addition to showcasing originals and its Acadian and Scots-Gaelic heritage\, the group lets loose\, interpreting selections from influential Island songwriters such as Stompin’ Tom\, Gene MacLellan\, Angele Arsenault\, and more. Rounding out the show are fiddle set staples\, with stepdancing and piano-playing hijinks. \nThe group consists of Stephanie Ross (vocals\, guitar\, bodhran\, percussion\, dance)\, Danielle Ross-Cairns (vocals\, fiddle\, percussion\, dance)\, and Johnny Ross (piano\, keyboards). \nAfter twenty years of performing this music series together\, the sibling trio has become very comfortable with one another. This is on full display in both their tight musical connection during performances and the way they tease and laugh together on stage while interacting freely with audiences. \nFrom June 23 to September 19\, the Ross Family will perform on Tuesdays and select Wednesdays at Victoria Playhouse\, Victoria-by-the-Sea. \nIn honour of their 20th anniversary\, the group will tour the show in eastern and western PEI as well. On July 7 and August 25\, they will perform at the Scott MacAulay Performing Arts Centre in Summerside\, and on August 18\, they will be on stage at Kings Playhouse in Georgetown. \nContact the venues for tickets or visit rossfamily.ca for more information. All shows\, at all locations\, begin at 7:30 pm.

SUMMARY:C’Mon In! An Island Kitchen Party
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, C’Mon In! An Island Kitchen Party brings the spirit of an Atlantic Canadian kitchen party to the stage at The Mack in Charlottetown\, running from June 6–August 29. \nThe production places audiences inside a familiar Maritime setting where music\, storytelling\, and humour unfold over the course of the evening. Blending concert performance with comedy and easy\, join-in moments\, C’Mon In! reflects a tradition where shared songs and stories shape the experience as much as the music itself. \nThe show is led by Island artists Robbie Doherty and Pierce Clarke\, whose shared background in music and storytelling anchors the production. Clarke\, a PEI-born multi-instrumentalist and Berklee College of Music graduate\, brings performances shaped by Island life and personal narrative. Doherty contributes a diverse career spanning tribute bands\, ECMA-nominated children’s recordings\, theatre\, and broadcasting. Together\, they guide the evening with an informal\, conversational approach that mirrors the atmosphere of a traditional kitchen party. \n Drawing from the Atlantic Canadian songbook\, C’Mon In! features music by artists including Stompin’ Tom Connors\, Anne Murray\, and Great Big Sea\, alongside moments of banter and audience interaction that evolve naturally from performance to performance. \nTickets and information are available at confederationcentre.com/cmonin.
