The Vinland Society Meeting: “Teeth of a Blizzard—Greenland Dogsledding Adventure” Presentation
The Vinland Society meeting on May 17 will feature guest speakers Jessie Inman and Allan Hart presenting “Teeth of a Blizzard—Greenland Dogsledding Adventure.”
In 2014, Charlottetown residents Jessie Inman and Allan Hart headed to the sparsely inhabited east coast of Greenland for a multi-day dog-sledding expedition. It was March, still the dead of winter, but their driver was an experienced local musher, and the route would take them over land and smooth sea ice. Nothing could possibly go wrong… until a blizzard roared up in their face and their return route unexpectedly vanished. In this illustrated presentation, Jessie and Allan will recount how they got into this scrape—and how they got out of it.
The event runs from 7–8:30 pm at Beaconsfield Carriage House in Charlottetown. It is free and everyone is welcome.
