Sirène et Matelot

The Acadian National Holiday Concert

The Acadian National Holiday on August 15 will be celebrated with a free concert at the Village musical acadien (VMA) in Abram-Village from 2–5 pm. All are invited to attend. The outdoor show will be headlined by the PEI Acadian duo Sirène et Matelot, with more performers to be announced.

Sirène et Matelot features Lennie Gallant and Patricia Richard. Together, they share their passion for music and explore songwriting that reflects not only their roots and influences but also their concerns about the current state of the world. The duo has recorded two albums under the Le Grenier musique label, including Sirène et Matelot (2019) and Un monde de dissonances (2023), which earned two 2024 Music PEI Awards (Contemporary/Traditional Roots Recording of the Year and the Prix de l’Acadie).

Patricia Richard is originally from Mont-Carmel, PEI. She has performed in the bands Panou and Acadilac, as well as in the musical Ode à l’Acadie, which has been presented in Canada, the United States, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Africa. More recently, she can be seen in Gallant’s multimedia musical, Searching for Abegweit.

Lennie Gallant was born in Rustico, PEI, and is recognized as one of Canada’s leading songwriters and performers. He was named to the Order of Canada, and his song “Peter’s Dream” was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has released 13 solo albums, including two in French.
