Listening to Talking to Humans (about the end of the world): An Earth Day Gathering
On Earth Day, April 22, the public is invited to join Chanel Briggs, Millefiore Clarkes, and Al Kelly for Listening to Talking to Humans (about the end of the world): An Earth Day Gathering of food, poetry, film, and song from 5–7 pm at The Arts Guild in Charlottetown.
The event celebrates the planet while offering space to process collective concern through art. It is grounded in the idea that we cannot get to a future we haven’t first imagined, and frames art as both an expression for, and a conduit to resistance and joyful rebellion.
Attendees are invited to eat food with their community before settling in for a spoken word performance by acclaimed poet Chanel Briggs, a short film entitled talking to humans about the end of the world—filmed over the summer of 2024 on Epekwitk/PEI by filmmaker Millefiore Clarkes—and a rousing spontaneous choir experience led by musician and choir director Al Kelly (all voices welcome). No answers or solutions are required, just a get together to connect and process through food, poetry, film, and song.
Admission is free at the door, with donations accepted. Doors open at 5 pm. Food is served from 5–6 pm, and performances begin at 6 pm. A cash bar is available. This is an all ages event.
