Lil Red Schoolhouse Music Series ft. Julia Bentley

The Lil Red Schoolhouse Music Series returns to the PEI Fox Den this summer, with concerts produced by Melodyman Productions.

Julia Bentley will perform on August 28 at 7:30 pm.

Julia Bentley is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter and pianist whose music blends classical training with contemporary songwriting across indie pop, folk, jazz, and cabaret influences. A graduate of the University of Toronto’s music program majoring in classical piano and music education, she brings technical skill and harmonic depth to her work, with lyrics that explore identity, vulnerability, and emotional nuance, often with a playful spin. She co-wrote and produced the viral Canadian patriotic anthem “Canadian, Please,” currently with over 5 million views on YouTube. Her performances span venues across Canada, connecting with audiences through large full band performances to intimate solo shows. In addition to her original work, Bentley is known for her interpretations and covers of well-known songs, playing with arrangements to offer new harmonic and emotional perspectives. She is currently collaborating with Don Quarles on an original musical about Canadian war hero Beatrice MacDonald, a project that builds on her (and her audience’s) love for all things Canadian, and taps into her musical theatre roots. Fun fact: In her early years, Beatrice went to school here in Historic North Bedeque School.
