Charlottetown Busker Festival Grand Opening
Some of the best buskers in the world will grace the picturesque streets of Downtown Charlottetown on August 29–31, with the debut of the Charlottetown Busker Festival, a free-to-attend, high-energy, family-friendly celebration of international street performance and local artistry. Strategically timed over Labour Day Weekend, the festival is set to attract visitors from across the East Coast and beyond.
The festival is set to take place on Victoria Row, Founders’ Food Hall & Market, and Peake’s Quay. Signature events include a Friday night Grand Opening Stunt at Peake’s Quay, a Saturday Fire Spectacular in partnership with Art in the Open and Cinema Under the Stars at Victoria Park, and Sunday’s Busk After Dusk show hosted by the legendary Monsters of Schlock.
Produced by Capital City Events in collaboration with Kobblestone Productions, a Canadian non-profit led by seasoned buskers and artists, and supported by Discover Charlottetown, the festival emphasizes artist excellence and community impact. Attendees can expect show-stopping acts from performers such as Flow Berger (Austria), Seb & Fritzzz (Germany), Derek Derek (Australia), and Kate Ryan (Alberta), among others.
The event kicks off Friday at 6 pm with a Grand Opening Stunt at Peake’s Quay featuring escape artist Rob Roy Collins (UK) before street shows from 5–9:45 pm.
In addition to entertainment, the festival aims to drive tourism, stimulate downtown foot traffic, and support local business.
