Canada Day Celebration

The City of Charlottetown’s Capital City Canada Day celebrations will feature free, family-friendly activities and live music that culminates with fireworks at dusk. The City is inviting residents and visitors alike to Victoria Park to join in the full-day celebration. High-energy indie rock band Coyote, and 6 Hearts, the storybook union of the remaining members of Vishtèn and The East Pointers, will headline the talented and diverse musical lineup. Triathlon PEI will be hosting a children’s triathlon Canada Day morning. This activity is part of Triathlon Canada’s Kids of Steel program, which is designed to offer youth the opportunity to experience the sport of triathlon in a positive environment with shorter distances than an adult triathlon. Registration and a fee to participate in the triathlon is required. The PEI Regiment will mark the day with a 21 Gun Salute at the Victoria Park Cannons at 12 pm. There will also be kid-friendly games, inflatables, activities and festive giveaways throughout the day (while supplies last). Local vendors will be serving up delicious flavours from Canada, Morocco, China, Jamaica and more. Taking place for the second year during musical celebration Coastal Vibes is ‘Understanding our Past, Reconciling our Future: Fireside Chats with Sean Doke’, featuring an engaging conversation with local leaders in the Mi’kmaq community.

Charlottetown has also been selected as one of three cities across the country to be featured during this year’s National Canada Day Evening Program on CBC. Canadians watching the broadcast will be treated to a song during 6 Hearts’ performance, and residents are encouraged to gather at the Cultural Pavilion to show their pride and support. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
