Bedeque Museum History Talk: “Becoming Green Gables”
The Bedeque Area Historical Museum will host eight talks on Mondays at 7 pm this summer at the William Callbeck Centre.
The series begins on July 6 with “Days of Oats and Oysters: 19th-Century Glimpses of Summerside and the Port of Bedeque,” presented by Harry Holman, retired Director of Culture, Heritage and Libraries.
On July 13, Dr. Alan MacEachern of the University of Western Ontario will discuss his book Becoming Green Gables.
The July 20 history circle will explore “Summer Tourism and Cottage Life Around Bedeque Bay from 1900 Onwards.”
On July 27, UPEI professor emeritus Dr. Edward MacDonald will present “Injustice and Deception: The Loyalists and the Land Question on Prince Edward Island.”
The August 3 talk, “Elaine Harrison, Teacher, Artist, Poet, Campaigner,” will be presented by Dr. Doug Sobey, president of the Bedeque Area Historical Society.
