2025 Provincial Heritage Fair
The 2025 Provincial Heritage Fair will be held on May 23 at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. The Fair will be open to the public from 2–3:45 pm with closing ceremonies beginning at 3 pm.
This year, more than 2000 individuals, including students, teachers, and volunteers across the Island participate in the Heritage Fair at a school level. Approximately 180 projects will be on display, representing 200 Grade 5-9 students who have been chosen to participate. Additionally, 20 Grade 10-12 students will participate in the Fair as a pilot project.
The PEI Heritage Fair program is a student-centered, inquiry-based learning opportunity that allows grades five to nine students to explore a Prince Edward Island or Canadian history topic of interest. Through guided inquiry-based learning, students are encouraged to think critically about history and its implications, acquire a sound understanding of the discipline and become more engaged in history. The grade five study of past societies and the grade six focus on Island history lend well to be tied in with heritage fair. Heritage Fair also has direct ties to grade seven and eight social studies curriculum and the study of Canadian History.
