Nature PEI Meeting: “PEI Fossil Discoveries” with geologist Dr. John Calder
On April 7, Nature PEI will host a short meeting at 7:30 pm followed by the presentation “PEI Fossil Discoveries” with internationally renowned geologist Dr. John Calder. The evening will take place at Beaconsfield Carriage House in Charlottetown, and after a short raffle break, the program will begin at 8 pm.
Dr. Calder will share a collection of photos and stories about the ancient Permian Fossils being exposed along PEI shores by increasing cliff erosion. He will explain what these fossils are, why we are seeing them now, and why what happens, or does not happen to them, is of great concern.
Dr. Calder is an author, photographer, and award-winning science educator. He has written multiple scientific publications on the region’s geology.
Nature PEI meetings are free and welcome all ages. Annual memberships for those who wish to further support the organization’s goals and projects are available via cash or cheque at the meeting.
Light refreshments will be served.
