Josh Lindsay, one of the inventors of Forktula, and Jordan Liantzakis, owner of PEI Charcuterie, Papia Papa Farms and PEI Heritage Meats, have teamed up to take over Ben’s Lake Campground and Adventure. The business is a piece of Island history which shut its doors in 2017.
Josh and Jordan have re-opened the business this year with emphasis on ecotourism and experiential dining offering kayaking and boating rentals, fishing, hiking, oysters on the dock, traditional french picnic baskets, and experiential packages like “Catch, Clean, and Cook” or “Forage and Feast.” With Josh’s background as an Environmental Biologist paired with Jordan’s experience as a professional fine dining Chef, the two will teach people how to forage or fish for food, then prepare meals with what they gather.
The new owners hosted an event on April 14 on the lake and invited everyone out for a community clean up with free food sponsored by Holy Fox Food Truck, KJL Meats, Charlottetown Cheese Co. Sproots Island Veggie Produce, Atlantic Mustard, and Riverview Country Market. Lots of hands from the community helped get things in shape for the season opening. The day ended with a bonfire on the lake.
Watch for a series of events throughout the season including a fishing derby, music festival, and car show. Ben’s Lake is located at 2741 Murray Harbour Road.
