AFTER DARK
LIAH

LIAH, a 22-year-old emerging pop artist from Emyvale PEI, has dropped her debut album AFTER DARK. Building on the momentum of her singles “Dangerous” and “Party Mood,” the full project rounds out her sound with four brand-new tracks.
Influenced by major pop artists like Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, and SZA, LIAH describes the album’s sound as moody, chill, electronic pop with hints of R&B. The tracks showcase LIAH’s vulnerable vocals, delivering the lyrics with an intimate purity and a soulful texture that draw the listener in.
Islanders may remember the original Christmas songs “Hurry Santa” (with Ally MacLeod), “Dear Old Santa,” and “Christmas Without You” (ft. Gordon Butler) that LIAH recorded as a teenager to raise money for charities such as Santa’s Angels and CBC Feed a Family.
“I’ve been writing since I was 12 years old, so it feels surreal to finally be able to share some of my songs,” LIAH says. As a recent UPEI graduate, she is excited to dedicate more time to writing, and is already planning future albums with archives she has written over the past few years.
The songs on AFTER DARK were written during LIAH’s high school years, and draw on teenage angst and the thoughts and feelings young adults often experience “after dark,” but they can be interpreted and related to in many different ways.
“I think my biggest goal with this album is to give others songs they can relate to,” adds LIAH. “Young adulthood especially involves a lot of big and challenging feelings, and if I could help someone work through those feelings by sharing my own, that would be extremely rewarding.”
AFTER DARK was produced and engineered by Josh Pitre, with additional production, engineering, and mixing and mastering by Jon Matthews at The Sound Mill Studio.
