Searching for Abegweit – The Island Songs & Stories of Lennie Gallant has returned to Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside for the summer, with two remaining performances on August 11 and 12.
Starring Order of Canada recipient and award-winning Island musician Lennie Gallant and his band, this ode to PEI features hundreds of paintings by his sister, Karen Gallant, projected on a giant screen alongside the music, as well as appearances by Mi’kmaq singer Hubert Francis.
The show explores Island legends, myths, history, and tall tales while weaving a tapestry of community spirit that offers insight into why Abegweit holds a special place in so many hearts.
This musical love letter to the Island celebrates its colourful past, present, and future. Searching for Abegweit originally ran for six sold-out seasons and more than 200 performances. This marks its first return in four years.
“I can’t believe how much fun it is to be offering this show again,” shares Lennie. “The band, Patricia Richard, Keelin Wedge, and Julien Robichaud, is playing so well and the energy we have together on stage is crazy good!”
