The Music Monday Series continues with three performances this month at Victoria Playhouse in Victoria-by-the-Sea.

The Playhouse welcomes Catherine MacLellan on August 3. Born and raised in PEI, MacLellan has captivated audiences around the world for more than two decades. Her songs reflect a deep connection to the land and the people who call it home. Rooted in folk and roots, her sound has evolved across seven albums. From heart-wrenching ballads to uplifting anthems, her music speaks to the struggles, triumphs, and joys of life. In addition to her musical career, she has dedicated herself to preserving her father Gene MacLellan’s legacy, producing a documentary and stage show exploring his life and struggles with mental health.

Inn Echo will perform on August 17. The allure of a vibrant traditional music scene brought Karson McKeown (ON), Tuli Porcher (BC), and Tom Gammons (MT) to PEI. Although they attended the same music school in Charlottetown, they met in a more typical folky way: at a session in a local pub. Tunes, stories, and laughs were shared, and they quickly realized their passions aligned. That’s how Inn Echo came together in 2019. Since then, the trio has earned Music PEI awards, JUNO, ECMA, and CFMA nominations, and toured three continents.

Scott Parsons will take the stage on August 31. A multi-disciplinary Island musician whose career spans nearly five decades, Parsons has used his accomplishments to enrich both himself and his community. He has played countless benefits, bars, and small venues, toured Switzerland twice, and performed across Canada, the U.S., England, Wales, Scotland, and the Orkney Islands. He has opened for Blue Rodeo and Jesse Winchester, backed the legendary Daisy DeBolt, and played bass for Gene MacLellan. Parsons also performed at Metro Detroit’s Gilda’s Club, dedicated to comedian Gilda Radner.
