The PEI Symphony Orchestra is once again inviting nature and music lovers to join artists and musicians on the Meike Trail in Morell. From 1–3 pm on September 6, the forest will resound with the strains of instruments and voices as singer-songwriters, poets, and traditional and orchestral performers at stations along the trail. The 2026 lineup of 15 performers includes Nick vanOuwerkerk, pipes and whistle; Trevor Grant, percussion; Olasunkanmi Omotosho, violin; Evelyn Yang, violin; Marti Hopson, accordion; Katie Gaudet, horn; and Dann Downes, ambient electronics.

The Symphony’s Music Director Jaelem Bhate is committed to greater engagement with the Island community: “Tuning in to Nature is just one of our events taking place outside the concert hall,” he says. “In recent weeks we have shared a fun ‘Popera’ experience in St. Peters, participated in the Under the Spire Festival at St. Mary’s Church in Kensington, as well as Charlottetown’s Natal Day celebrations.”

The Meike Trail winds through the Kelly Green Natural Area and is one of the best places to spot shorebirds, raptors, woodland birds, and a great variety of flora and fauna.

Registration is required. Tickets are available at peisymphony.com/store, and admission is frete for children 10 and under. Twenty-minute time slots are selected when purchasing tickets. Check in five minutes before the scheduled time. This all-ages, self-guided musical nature walk takes about 40–45 minutes to complete, and attendees are encouraged to interact with artists between performances. The trail is flat and well maintained; however, discretion is advised for those with limited mobility.
