Pride Fest: Poetry OUTloud
Poetry OUTloud, as part Pride Fest ’26, will take place on July 29 from 7–9 pm at The Arts Guild in Charlottetown. Paying homage to the 10-year legacy of OUTspoken while creating a fresh start, Poetry OUTloud is a night of spoken word and poetry readings by queer poets. This evening celebrates queer voices in a powerful, non-competitive environment.
The theme for Poetry OUTloud ’26 is “Renaissance: Rebirth~Revive~Renew.”
Produced and hosted by Queer Poetry Club, Poetry OUTloud is an all-ages event that amplifies local queer poetry and poets. The event extends Queer Poetry Club’s purpose: to cultivate a queer, neurodiversity-affirming, and supportive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ poets on Epekwitk to gather, write, share, and experience poetry.
Poetry OUTloud invites people of all ages and backgrounds to attend. Note that themes of sexuality, gender exploration, and other related topics may be present in the performances.
Queer Poetry Club has collaborated with Queer Choir on a songwriting initiative. Together, with more than 20 queer poets and singers, they have co-written the song, “I am Every Possibility,” which will have its world premiere during Poetry OUTloud.
Some poets and performers will have books and related merchandise for sale. Attendees are encouraged to bring cash to support them.
Doors open at 6:30 pm. Sliding-scale tickets are available in advance at pridepei.ca. For more information, email queerpoetryclub@proton.me.
