Progressive Organ Concert
On June 28, music lovers will have a unique opportunity to experience pipe organ music performed in a variety of churches as members of the Royal Canadian College of Organists present a Progressive Organ Concert.
What exactly is a Progressive Concert? It begins with a 30-minute recital and then proceeds down the street for another 30-minute concert given by different organists on a different instrument, and so on.
The concert begins at St. Paul’s on Prince Street, with a program starting at 1:30 pm. The following concert at Trinity United, also on Prince Street, starts at 2:30 pm. The final program at 3:30 pm takes place at St. Dunstan’s Basilica on Great George Street. Between each concert is a half-hour break allowing people to leisurely make their way to the next location.
This event coincides with the DiverseCity Festival in Charlottetown, so attendees are encouraged to plan ahead for nearby parking. Admission to any or all recitals is by free will offering. Proceeds will support the Dr. Alan Reesor Scholarship Fund to help educate aspiring student organists.
