Restoring coastal defenses webinars and events
The Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project is part of the 2026 Climate Challenge Fund through its project, “A Community-Based Approach to Restoring the Coastal Shield in Prince Edward Island.” They are calling on Islanders to restore coastal defenses by participating in online webinars and in-person events. Upcoming webinar includes Species for the Coast: Withstanding Winds & Strengthening Shores on May 14 at 6:30 pm. In addition to online learning, community members are invited to participate in a series of hands-on coastal planting events at provincial parks across the Island. These events will give participants the opportunity to contribute directly to shoreline restoration efforts. The planting events begin at 10 am and will take place at: Cabot Beach Provincial Park on May 16; Red Point Provincial Park on May 30; Cedar Dunes Provincial Park on June 13; and Brudenell River Provincial Park on June 20. All webinars and events are open to the public. Visit macphailwoods.org to register for the webinar series and learn more.
