Island Trails is launching a new community event this spring that connects two ideas: nourishing our bodies and nourishing our spirits. Hike for the Food Bank: Feed the Body, Feed the Soul will run throughout May, encouraging Islanders to get outside, enjoy the Island’s trail network, and support PEI Food Banks at the same time.
The event will officially launch on May 2 from 9 am–12 pm, with welcoming tables set up at trails in each county: in Prince County at the Forestview Trail; in Queens County at the Winter River Hiking Trail; and in Kings County at the Boughton River Nature Trail. Visitors are invited to stop by, learn more about Island Trails and PEI Food Banks, and make a monetary donation or drop off non-perishable food items at the trailhead tables.
Following launch day, the initiative will continue throughout the month. At Island Trails trailheads across PEI, visitors will see signs featuring a QR code linking directly to the PEI Food Banks donation page. Anyone enjoying the trails will have the opportunity to scan the code and contribute to the campaign.
The event invites Islanders to participate in whatever way feels right—take a walk, hike a favourite trail, discover a new one, and consider making a donation along the way. Island Trails hopes this will become a meaningful annual tradition—supporting the community while celebrating the simple power of getting outside into nature.
