Choose Your Own Knitting Adventure with Jane Whitten
Choose your own knitting adventure with Jane Whitten at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery in Charlottetown on May 23 at 12:30 pm. Pre-registration is required.
Inspired by the playful format of the classic Choose Your Own Adventure books, participants will create unique knitted sculptures using wool, double-pointed needles, stitch holders, wire, and stuffing. Throughout the workshop, knitters will draw instruction cards that determine what they knit next, ensuring that no two sculptures are alike.
The workshop is led by Jane Whitten, an experimental knitter and basket maker based in North Bedeque, Epekwitk/PEI. Whitten describes herself as a “dysfunctional knitter”, someone who enjoys pushing beyond traditional projects like socks and sweaters to knit objects inspired by the natural environments she explores. She believes knitting can also be a creative tool for sharing social, political, and environmental ideas.
The workshop takes place at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery.
