The Victoria Playhouse opens its 38th season of live professional theatre on June 25 with the comedy Where You Are by Canadian playwright Kristen Da Silva.
Where You Are, directed by Ted Price and starring Debra Lynn McCabe, Francine Deschepper, Helen Killorn, and Benton Hartley, is the story of sisters Glenda and Suzanne, who enjoy a peaceful, rural retirement selling homemade jam and trying to spot their handsome veterinarian neighbour. Suzanne’s grown daughter Beth, an academic and physician, arrives for a visit proving sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree! Complicated family dynamics and secrets aside, Where You Are is a story about recognizing and choosing the love that exists in our lives.
The Monday Concert Series is back with Shannon Quinn on July 8. A traditional Irish fiddler with classical training, Quinn also possesses a gorgeous voice and has performed with everyone from Cirque Du Soleil to The Chieftains to Symphony Nova Scotia. For the past two years she been touring internationally with the award-winning Scottish group The Paul McKenna Band. In 2016, Shannon won Roots Traditional Album of the Year and New Artist Recording of the Year at the Music Nova Scotia Awards and has also been nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards. She recently released her third album The Watchmaker, a modern Celtic concept album, based on the painting The Watchmaker of Switzerland.
